The Nightmare Before Christmas Live with Danny Elfman Review

The Nightmare Before Christmas Live with Danny Elfman Review

For the first time ever, the original cast of the Nightmare before Christmas performed their vocal parts alongside the movie at the Hollywood Bowl. Danny Elfman, who is the voice of Jack Skellington delivered an absolutely superb performance, as did everyone else. But there was something quite magical about seeing him perform in person along with the movie on large screens.

For every minute of the two hours the movie lasted we were gripped to our seats. The live orchestra was very impressive, and hearing the music in person really draws you into every scene of the movie. The way the actors have their timing spot on with the movie is just mesmerising, I can only imagine how much time and preparation went in to making this show as perfect as it was.

    “The execution was flawless.”

As the end credits rolled over the screen we were disappointed it had to end. Luckily there was a number of encores. Danny Elfman took command of the stage and performed a couple of his songs, as well as bringing some other musicians on stage to accompany him. For a few brief moments the show became an intimate gig as we were treated to his musical genius.

The show far exceeded our expectations, every little detail was superb. I will never look at the movie in the same way again. I have a new found appreciation for the talent and amount of work that goes into a production like this. We had a magical night at the Hollywood Bowl, and would sit through this show again in a heartbeat.
