We have visited Koi in Los Angeles before, and as we had an enjoyable and satisfying experience last time we knew what to expect. It's an intimate restaurant, with attentive staff and an interesting menu.
We were once again warmly greeted on arrival and shown to our table. One of our fondest memories of our last visit were the cocktails, so we decided to sample a couple more from their menu, We ordered the Lychee Heat, which is a very interesting blend of Casamigos Tequila, Jalapeño, Lychee, Lemon, and agave, giving a refreshing hit with a jalapeño kick. We also sampled a Final Word which was equally as nice, it was mixed with Scotch, Chartreuse, Luxardo, Lime, Honey, and Acid Phosphate.
To begin we sampled the Edamame and a couple of Misu Soup's, Koi Crispy Rice topped with Spicy Tuna, and their 'She's so LA Sushi Roll, a roll containing Crab and Spicy Tuna. Each dish looked and tasted superb and prepared to perfection.
"Each dish looked and tasted superb."
For main courses we opted to sample their Steak with Shishito Mashed Potatoes and Truffle Habernero Cream. Another dish that had been carefully prepared and tasted divine. We also had the Grilled Salmon with Lemon and Butter. A simple, yet perfectly executed dish which was most enjoyable.
We enjoyed a bottle of Tournesol Napa Valley, 2004 throughout our meal. A medium wine with subtle notes and a fruity flavour. Koi LA is a great place to enjoy some Japanese cuisine, sample cocktails, and spend the evening dining. We were blown away with the cuisine, from the presentation to the flavours. I'm sure this will not be the last time we visit here.
