    Cinespia Review

    Cinespia Review

Last year the Rocky Horror Picture Show celebrated their 40th anniversary and we were fortunate enough to experience a screening at the Hollywood Forever Cinema over Halloween. Cinespia put on a giant screening of the show, and everyone was welcome to bring their own picnic. You could even bring alcohol if you wanted to, so it was quite the atmosphere that developed over the course of the night.

There was a DJ before and after the movie screening, so the option to party the night away is also an option. The atmosphere was electric, there were masses of people dressed up in costume. I’ve not experienced anything quite like it before, and probably never will again.

“It’s more than just a movie, it’s a cultural experience.”

For anyone not familiar with the Rocky Horror Picture Show, it’s a musical comedy first penned in the 70’s. What started out as warmly received movie fast became a cult classic. There are few fan bases to rival the passion of those who follow the Rocky Horror Show. It has a global following, and although screenings attract people of all walks of life, there is a fringe culture to the hard core fans that’s fun to be around.

While watching a screening on Halloween on the 40th anniversary isn’t something we will get the chance to experience again. We will certainly watch the movie again if it’s being shown in a city we are staying in. It’s more than just a movie, it’s a cultural experience, and we recommend you check it out if the opportunity arises.
