Perfectly placed along the banks of the River Thames, The Savoy stands as a symbol of unrivalled luxury and sophistication in the heart of London. This iconic hotel is a fine example of five-star opulence, offering guests an exquisite experience that seamlessly blends Edwardian charm with modern extravagance. During our stay, we had the privilege of immersing ourselves in the splendour of one of their One-Bedroom River View Suites, and it was nothing short of extraordinary.

The One-Bedroom River View Suites at The Savoy offer an unparalleled setting, providing guests with breathtaking panoramic views of the River Thames. From the moment we entered the suite, we were captivated by the stunning vistas that unfolded before us. The lounge area and bedroom both boasted expansive windows that framed the river's flowing waters and some of London's most iconic riverside landmarks. It was a visual feast that never ceased to amaze, whether we were sipping champagne or simply gazing out in wonder.

The Edwardian style of the suite added an element of timeless elegance to our stay. The suite comprised a spacious bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, complete with an indulgent claw-foot bath. The separate sitting area, entrance foyer, and cloakroom all retained the original character and charm that is synonymous with The Savoy. The attention to detail in the design and furnishings spoke volumes about the hotel's commitment to preserving its rich heritage.

One-Bedroom Suite guests at The Savoy are treated to the legendary Savoy Butler service, ensuring that every need and desire is meticulously attended to. Furthermore, the opportunity to use the house car, subject to availability, adds a touch of luxury that exemplifies The Savoy's commitment to its guests' comfort and convenience.

While we didn't personally experience The Royal Suite, we couldn't help but be intrigued by the fascinating story of Guccio Gucci, who once worked at The Savoy as a luggage porter in his youth. This connection between The Savoy and Gucci is celebrated in unique ways, including the transformation of The Savoy's Royal Suite into a reflection of the Gucci world. The redesigned interior features furniture, furnishings, and decorative items from the Gucci Décor Collection, paying homage to their shared history.

For those seeking relaxation, The Savoy's spa is a hidden gem in the heart of London. Nestled on the hotel's third floor, this private retreat caters to the health, relaxation, and well-being of both resident and non-resident guests. The centrepiece is a beautiful swimming pool housed in its own atrium, bathed in natural light and equipped with a jet-stream for those inclined to swim against the current. Sauna and steam room facilities complete the experience, ensuring a tranquil escape from the bustling city of London. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the state-of-the-art gym areas with weights and cardiovascular equipment.

Dining at The Savoy is a gastronomic adventure with a variety of options to cater to every palate. Starting with the Thames Foyer, where we indulged in a delightful afternoon tea experience. The pièce de résistance, however, was our visit to The River Restaurant by Gordon Ramsay, which showcased the culinary genius of the renowned chef. The Savoy Grill by Gordon Ramsay, an iconic establishment that needs no introduction, offers a timeless dining experience. Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay adds a contemporary twist to traditional British cuisine, and Simpson’s in the Strand, though closed at the time of our visit, promised to reopen in 2024.

For those with a penchant for libations, The Savoy does not disappoint. The American Bar, London's longest surviving cocktail bar, offers a glimpse into the city's storied cocktail culture. However, it was the Beaufort Bar that captured our hearts, with its dramatic jet-black and gold décor that exuded glamour and luxury. Please note that the Beaufort Bar is open only from Thursday to Saturday, making it a coveted spot for those in search of an exquisite cocktail experience.

The Savoy's ethos of 'personal service naturally' is woven into the very fabric of the hotel. It was here that the concept of establishing a school to train professionals in the hospitality industry was pioneered. During our stay, we witnessed firsthand how the dedicated team combined efficiency and discretion, epitomising a traditional British yet modern service style that set the stage for an authentic London experience.
