The Queens Hotel in Cheltenham is a huge building with a grand Regency façade. It was recently acquired by the MGallery collection, so we were keen to explore the hotel. The hotel overlooks the Imperial Gardens of Cheltenham, and is just a few minute’s walk from the town centre.
After a short check-in we were soon on our way to our suite, named the Cambury Suite. The suite was large and well-appointed, everything was well positioned making the most of the available space. There was an espresso machine, a large plasma TV, a desk and a large free standing mirror, and finally the huge contemporary four-poster bed taking centre stage. The bed was incredibly comfortable, we had the perfect night’s sleep and found this to be one of the highlights of our stay.
The bathroom was a good size and was well-designed. My favourite feature was the large freestanding bath tub, it not only looks tempting but provides a relaxing soak. There was also a large walk-in shower and a single wash basin to complete the bathroom.
“It’s been beautifully maintained and the walls are adorned with 175 year old wallpaper.”
Exploring outside of our suite we recommend taking the staircase instead of lift and can assure you this will not disappoint. The hotel features a huge open-plan staircase running from the ground floor to the top floor, it’s worth the effort to climb the staircase. It’s been beautifully maintained and the walls are adorned with 175 year old wallpaper, which I believe can also be found on the walls of the Houses of Parliament.
The hotel has a small intimate bar, which is a great way to start the evening before heading through to the Napier Restaurant, or to just nurse a drink or two into the late hours. There isn’t a gym at the hotel, but you do have access to fitness facilities at a local collage just 15 minutes away by foot, or a short drive. There is a car park onsite which is most welcome when staying in the city, and with the Cotswolds just a short distance away there’s plenty to see and do if you enjoy the outdoors.
We had a wonderful experiencing during our time at The Queens Hotel. The staff were friendly throughout and made our visit a memorable one.
