The Veranda can be found located inside the Grand Hotel in Stockholm. Named after the well-known verandas of the hotel, this restaurant truly makes the most of the hotel’s wonderful location, with unrestricted views over the harbour.

When we arrived we were greeted by our friendly host, who showed us to our table overlooking the waterfront. We began our evening with an aperitif of Pol Roger N.V, which was the perfect start of what was set to be a lovely evening.

“The food and service make the experience simply faultless.”

We opted for our food to be paired with wine by the sommelier. To start, we chose the rapeseed oil baked back of cod, served with cod row emulsion and Brussels sprouts; which was paired with a glass of Trimback Riesling. Our second starter consisted of venison tartare served with bleak roe, dried leek, and brown onion mayonnaise. The second starter was paired with a glass of Egon Müller Scharzhof Riesling.

For our main courses, we chose the diced fillet of beef, served with potatoes, onions, and Dijon mustard cream. This main course was paired with a glad of Domaine Laflaive Bourgonge. Our second main course consisted of fired filled of lamb served with fried celeriac, pumpkin, and goat’s cheese from Skärvångens dairy, as well as a lamb brisket croquette. Alongside this course, we enjoyed a glass of Penfolds RWT.

For desert, we sampled the crème brulée with dulcey chocolate and cinnamon, served with a citrus salad; as well as the black forest terrine with cherries in cognac and cream. These were paired with a glass of the Cypres de Climens Sauternes, and the Graham's 10 year Tawny Port.

We were very impressed with our evening at the Veranda, and would thoroughly recommend you visit if you’re ever in Stockholm. The atmosphere with the view in itself is reason enough to stop by, but the food and service make the experience simply faultless.
