Papa Goose is located in the central business district of Melbourne, Papa Goose offers modern British dining in a Bistro style dining room. If you visit on a Sunday you will get to experience their roasts which super enjoyable.

We started with a couple of cocktails while browsing the menu. I ordered the ‘Diamonds are Forever’, mixed with Raspberry Liqueur, Peach Liqueur, Orange Bitters, Sugar and Prosecco with Silver Powder. A wonderful delicious cocktail. My partner sampled the ‘El Mariachi’, a light fruity cocktail comprising of El Jimador Reposado, Dry Vermouth, Lemon, Rosemary, and Watermelon, a delightful cocktail with a real kick.

Our chosen wine for the evening was a bottle of Penley Estate ‘Tolmer’, Coonawarra, SA, 2012. A lovely dark blackcurrant wine, with soft tannins and a long, lingering finish.

To begin I ordered the Zucchini Flower with Squash, Eggplant, Heirloom Tomato, Burrata, Smoked Tomato and Red Pepper. The Zucchini Flower was perfectly prepared and the Burrata worked very well and tasted superb. My partner ordered Caramelised Fig with Buckwheat Granola, Stilton, Beetroot, Almond with Apple Balsamic dressing. Another dish with an interesting range of flavours, and executed very well.

“The roasts come recommended by us, as does Papa Goose.”

For the main event we both enjoyed their roast. Prepared with Free Range Chicken with Lemon and Thyme Stuffing. Served with Roasted Potatoes, Roasted mixed winter Vegetables, Yorkshire Puddings, and a Red Wine Jus. The roast was everything a roast should be, being British we know when we experience a good roast and Papa Goose failed to disappoint.

To complete we ordered the Saffron Rice Pudding with Berry Meringue, Rhubarb, and a Lemon Balm. The Rice Pudding was delicious, a fitting dessert to follow the roast. We also sampled their Poached Pear with Ginger Spiced Parkin, Chocolate Porter, Honeycomb, and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. The desserts looked super, and tasted just as good.

The roasts come recommended by us, as does Papa Goose. If you’re Melbourne be sure to stop by on a Sunday and sample one.
