Located inside the Mondrian Hotel in LA is Skybar. An interesting and fabulous location to enjoy something a little different from many of the other bars in LA. Here you can enjoy fine poolside cocktails with stunning views, giving you the opportunity to appreciate the fun side of LA and soak up the atmosphere all night long.

The views really need to be experienced in person to appreciate their true beauty. The pool is illuminated at night and candles are dotted all around the pool, creating a special environment. As far as bars go in LA, the Skybar rocks.

We decided to start off with a couple of cocktails. They have a pool themed cocktail menu, so we chose Dry Me Off, a dry yet refreshing cocktail which was mixed with Beefeater Dry Gin, Fresh Lemon Juice, Simple Syrup, and topped up with Champagne. We also sampled the Sunburnt Margarita, this cocktail had a real kick to it and was mixed together with Avión Silver Tequila, Agave Nectar, Fresh Lime Juice, Strawberries, and Jalapeños.

"If you're in LA and looking for a hip and scenic evening, drop in at the Skybar."

We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon Unfiltered, Newton, California, 2009. A full-bodied wine with a spicy and distinctive taste.

We sampled a couple of dishes and I decided on the Classic Flat Top Burger, served with Cheddar Cheese, Mustard, Fried Egg Mayo, Pickles, Brioche Bun, and Potato Chips. It was a juicy burger on a soft bun, very satisfying. My partner had the Seafood Flatbread, which was made up with Calamari, Bay Scallop, Shrimp, Artichoke, Tomato, Chilies, and a dusting of Parmesan. Another delicious combination of flavours, a very enjoyable dish.

Skybar is a breath of fresh air in the LA bar scene. We really enjoyed our experience and would love to return in the future. If you're in LA and looking for a hip and scenic evening, drop in at the Skybar.
