We have visited Hawksmoor on numerous occasions, in a number of their different locations, and we have to say that their Knightsbridge restaurant is certainly one of our favourites. This steakhouse brand holds a special sort of atmosphere with its sophisticated, art deco style interiors, and low lighting. It makes for a rather wonderful dining experience, particularly in Knightsbridge, where the restaurant resides in a basement below street level.

What we enjoy most about Hawksmoor is its consistency. We know that on any given day we can go to Hawksmoor for a meal and it will be as good as the last time we dined there, and I’m pleased to say that this occasion was no exception.

When we arrived we were greeted by the signature warmth of Hawksmoor, with a friendly welcome and prompt seating at our table. We were pleased to be in the middle of the action, and we couldn’t resist starting our evening with a cocktail. I went for the Marmalade Cocktail, which saw Beefeater, Campari, lemon and marmalade. This was a fruity and aromatic drink that was quite a delight. My partner went for the Corpse Reviver #2 which was mixed with Gin, Triple Sec, Socchi Americano, lemon and absinthe - certainly not for the faint hearted!

“We know that on any given day we can go to Hawksmoor for a meal and it will be as good as the last time we dined there, and I’m pleased to say that this occasion was no exception.”

We browsed the menu as we sipped our cocktails and on this occasion, decided to go straight to the main event. My partner went for the 300g fillet steak complete with an additional half lobster and peppercorn sauce. I went for the 400g rib-eye with bearnaise sauce, and we also added sides of creamed spinach, Tunworth mash and lastly the buttered English greens. To say we enjoyed our choices would be an understatement. The steaks were so full of flavour and so perfectly cooked, and the sides were just the right accompaniment. Hawksmoor have so many tempting side dishes which all sound incredibly indulgent, but we somehow managed to restrain ourselves and remain sensible with our choices.

For the wine, we chose a bottle of the 2016 Yohan Lardy Moulin-a-Vent Vieilles Vignes de 1903, Beaujolais, France. This was a great wine, with purple hues; it was medium bodied and full of sour berries and raspberry flavours with a spicy finish - a fine addition to the table.

Once again, we had a wonderful experience at Hawksmoor Knightsbridge. The service was excellent, and as always, they excelled themselves on the delivery of the food. The flavours were exquisite and the presentation was also great. We will certainly be returning and would highly recommend Hawksmoor to anyone looking for a fantastic steak meal in London.
