Lime Wood Hotel is located in the New Forest in rural Hampshire. It’s quite an arrival as you drive past wild horses on the approaching road before entering the long sweeping driveway leading to the hotel. Lime Wood is a beautiful country house hotel, and having visited previously we have fond memories and were keen to rediscover the beauty of this idyllic location.

The property is stunning, and it’s the perfect location for those looking to escape city life. Starting out as a hunting lodge in the 13th Century, this Regency country house has been lovingly renovated over the years and you can’t help but be impressed, it doesn’t get much better than this.

“Lime Wood is sensational on every level.”

As we arrived at the hotel our luggage was taken and we were shown to our ‘Forest Suite’ in the main building. Our suite was of a good size and comprised of a living area with a sofa and arm chairs, along with a dining table and chairs and the use of an iPod filled with music to cater to all tastes. Moving through the corridor there were two hidden wardrobes and a gorgeous marble bathroom. The bathroom was complete with polished silver taps throughout, and a separate bath and shower. The highlight of the suite for us was the bedroom. The views over the grounds were absolutely stunning, and the contemporary four-poster bed couldn’t have been more comfortable. The bedroom had a chaise lounge, giving the room a modern shabby-chic look which certainly worked well with the décor.

Outside of our suite we discovered the Herb House, which is their spa area. Here you will find everything one could possibly require for some quality relaxation and pampering time. There is a huge indoor fitness room, and indoor pool, outdoor hot pool, and a huge sauna with beautiful forest views. You can join in with early morning yoga sessions on the roof of the Herb Garden, or relax in the couple’s treatment room with your partner.

Hartnett Holder and Co is Lime Wood’s restaurant and certainly doesn’t disappoint. Lime Wood is sensational on every level. They don’t do average here, they only do exceptional. This is a country escape at its finest and we can’t wait to return again.
