The Side Hotel in Hamburg boasts one of the most spectacular lobby areas we have ever seen, simplistic, minimalist architecture, with a view point up the side of 10 floors to the ceiling - the innovative lighting really captures this space in all its glory. The Side Hotel is in fact the first five star design hotel in Hamburg. You will find it located within the city centre, close to all amenities, as well as a stone’s throw away from the beautiful inner Alster Lake.

When we arrived, we were greeted by smartly dressed staff, who gave us a very warm welcome indeed. We were efficiently check-in, and pointed in the direction of our Flying Suite, which was located on the 10th floor. Each Flying Suite is colour coordinated and ours was decorated in lime green. The colour coordination in our suite did not end in the bedroom; our suite came complete with a huge bath tub. The bathroom was in fact, very impressive - with separate walk in shower and steam room.

“With the professional efficiency of the staff throughout, we couldn’t have asked for more from our stay.”

The espresso machine was a great addition, and we took pleasure enjoying a coffee out on the suite’s beautiful terrace overlooking the rooftops of Hamburg - this was a real highlight. The room itself had an excellent feeling of space, with its open plan layout; and once again, the lighting was spot on.

As standard, these suites come equipped with a king sized bed, a kitchenette, entertainment system, and Sky television also included as standard. We can’t recommend the Flying Suites enough - not just for the view, but for the feeling of space and comfort. We were very impressed.

If you are able to drag yourself away from your room during your stay, the hotel itself actually has plenty to offer. The SPA inSIDE offers the perfect place for relaxation. With a crisp and tastefully colourful interior, this is a spa that speaks of refreshment and revival from the outset. With their different colours symbolising different states of mind - yellow for well-being, green for refreshment, orange for energy, and blue for relaxation - this spa is truly innovative in its concept. Be sure to enjoy a swim in the Blue Box’s pool - and check out the aromatic steam bath, Jacuzzi, and sauna, if you have time. Also, it’s worth booking in for a treatment, if you’re looking for the ultimate indulge.

Side’s restaurants are also very worth the visit. The Meatery and Bar serve up some fantastic meat dishes, so be sure to reserve a table during your stay. We also thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast, which was as tasty as it was well presented - it offered us the perfect start to our day.

Side is conveniently located for guests to see the sights of Hamburg; which makes it perfect for leisure and business travellers alike. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hamburg. Its minimalist chic, and luxury touches really made our stay very comfortable indeed. That teamed with the professional efficiency of the staff throughout, we couldn’t have asked for more from our stay.
