Located on the outskirts of Padstow in Cornwall, Trevear Farm is home to some beautiful cottages with unspoilt views across the Camel Estuary. As we entered the grounds and meandered our way down the driveway to the farm we noted the wonderful well-kept surroundings. Trevear is a working farm, but the high level of care and attention to the grounds is nothing short of impressive and gives an enchanting feeling upon arrival. Exactly how things should be when arriving at a luxurious self-catering destination.
We were greeted by our well-dressed host, who had just arrived from a spot of shooting and was dressed in perfectly pressed country attire. He gave us a charismatic tour of our retreat, Trevear Mill House and then left us to unwind. We were also greeted by a gorgeous welcome hamper when we arrived, filled with local produce such as eggs from the farm and fresh bread, and a few local treats like Cornish fudge and after dinner mints.
Our cottage was designed with the living area upstairs which is completely open-plan. You have a feeling that is there is a great deal of space by the way it’s designed, and this is extended by the high ceilings and glass roof panels that rise above the entrance hall. We had three bedrooms, two of which were ensuite and the other with a separate bathroom, which is a great bonus and means you only have to share a bathroom with your nearest and dearest. All of the bedrooms are of a good size, and the middle bathroom featured a rather stylish bathtub which was very inviting.

The decor throughout is light and finished to a high-spec and has been well-kept throughout. Remnants of the Cornish coastline are present around the cottage such as the nautical colour scheme and decorative seashells which was a nice touch. We had access to our own patio area with an outdoor table and chairs which would be ideal in the warmer months and perfect for a summer BBQ.
The kitchen was also very spacious, complete with a breakfast bar and a seperate dining table the kitchen provided everything you could possibly need and then some, again no expense has been spared here. The retreat also had a wood burner and plenty of logs are provided to keep you cozy in the winter months. One design aspect we particularly liked was the large thick glass floor panel upstairs, which allows you to walk over and enjoy views through to the ground level.
There were various other touches and attention to detail that made our experience a memorable one. The Nespresso machine had a varied and generous selection of pods to use throughout our stay, and the fruit bowl contained a divine selection of perfectly ripe fruit. The cottage is also complete with its own SONOS music system which can be controlled through the iPad, the iPad also includes a huge list of personal recommendations to local pubs and restaurants.
Other facilities that help to separate Trevear Farm apart from many of its competitors include a newly opened swimming pool which is heated all year round and is setup with the SONOS music system allowing you to listen to your preferred playlist whilst you take a dip and enjoy the views though the floor to ceiling glass windows. There is also a well-equipped gym to enjoy looking at whilst taking a relaxing swim.
The hosts were more than accommodating and made sure we were not left wanting for anything. There are few, if any rural cottage experiences that can match what Trevear Farm has to offer, we can’t wait to return.
