Hotel D'Angleterre is an impressive hotel that can be found located in the vibrant city of Copenhagen. It’s hard to miss the inviting facade of this hotel, which is particularly sizable, awash with white and sporting three flags that blow regally in the breeze. There’s a very smart doorman who resides at the entrance, and really sets the tone for what is to come. This actually wasn’t the first visit we had paid to this stunning hotel, so we were thrilled to be returning once again. From the get-go, it certainly lived up to our expectations once more.

As we pulled up outside, a member of staff was soon on hand to open the car doors and greet us. Our luggage was whisked away, and we were escorted inside the hotel and shown through to reception where we were welcomed and checked-in. The entire process was swift and friendly, and the reception area left us in great anticipation to discover our room, which on this occasion was one of Hotel D'Angleterre’s Deluxe One-Bedroom Suites.

With a separate living room area as well as a bedroom, our suite was certainly not short on space. The exceptionally large and comfortable bed takes centre stage in the bedroom, which also offers a mini bar and Nespresso machine, as well as the fluffiest robes and softest slippers. The living room boasts a large television and a highly comfortable seating area; with luxury soft furnishings and a relaxing colour palette. The marble bathroom was large in size and complete with a bath and separate shower. There’s even a television to enjoy whilst you bathe, which is most indulgent. However, the best part of our suite was undoubtedly the stunning views across the King’s New Square, which was most welcome.

“There’s a very smart doorman who resides at the entrance, and really sets the tone for what is to come.”

In terms of its location, Hotel D’Angleterre is up there with some of the best in Copenhagen. Located at Kongens Nytorv, it sits proudly in the heart of the city and provides an excellent base from which to explore the city and the canal district. Amalienborg, Tivoli Gardens and The Little Mermaid are all worth a visit during a stay here, as they are all easily within walking distance.

If you’re looking for facilities a little closer to home, however, you won’t be disappointed with the hotel’s spa. They have a wonderful indoor swimming pool, which we believe is the only one in central Copenhagen. They also offer an array of relaxing spa treatments, which are well worth treating yourself to during your stay; or they have a great gym for those after something a bit more active.

In terms of dining options, there’s no shortage at Hotel D'Angleterre. Their bar, Balthazar, offers a fantastic drinks list complete with cocktails and most delicious wine. You can also indulge in an array of various snacks, including caviar and oysters. There’s even a DJ on some evenings offering added atmosphere. If you’re after something a little more substantial, however, you need look no further than the hotel’s restaurant, Marchal. This Michelin-awarded restaurant is a fine option for dinner in Copenhagen, offering Nordic cuisine with a French twist.

Overall we were thoroughly impressed once again by our stay at Hotel D'Angleterre. The service was impeccable and we had a very comfortable stay indeed. We’re pleased to say that it has retained all it’s special qualities we enjoyed so much during our first visit, and may have even exceeded our expectations. This hotel comes highly recommended by us as a fantastic choice of accommodation in Copenhagen’s city centre.
